ONLINE SAFETY FOR SENIORS

Essential Tips to Protect Yourself from Scams

⚠ WARNING SIGNS - HANG UP OR DELETE!

1

Unexpected calls claiming to be from Microsoft, CRA, banks, or family in trouble

2

Emails or texts with links asking you to "verify your account" or "confirm information"

3

Pop-up alerts saying "Your computer is infected - Call this number NOW!"

4

Requests for payment via gift cards, wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or iTunes cards

5

Pressure to act immediately: "Urgent!" "Act now!" "Limited time!" "Your account will be closed!"

✓ IF YOU SUSPECT A SCAM

HANG UP immediately. Don't engage. Real companies won't mind if you call back.

DELETE suspicious emails or texts. Don't click any links or download attachments.

VERIFY by calling official numbers from statements, not numbers caller provides.

ASK FOR HELP from family, friends, or trusted tech support if unsure.

🛡 DAILY SAFETY RULES

✓ Never share passwords over phone/email

✓ Look for "https://" before entering info

✓ Use different passwords for each account
